The following problems were found in the raw material mill reducer of DV31 type in a factory:

Every year after summer, lubricating oil often emerges from the air vent, and a small amount of oil spills from the cover of the reducer box or the sealing surface of the extended shaft, causing waste, polluting the environment, and affecting the service life of the internal gears and gear shafts of the reducer.

Through analysis, it is considered that the uneven pressure inside and outside the box is the cause. To this end, we check and solve the following problems:

1. Open the upper cover of the ventilator, make the reducer run for 5 or 6 minutes, touch the vent with your hand, and feel hot air. This means that the ventilator is small.

2. We consider that it is more difficult to enlarge the ventilator, so we replace the ventilator with a self-made ventilator (see figs. 1 and 2).

3. In this way, on the one hand, the ventilation hole is slightly enlarged to reduce the ventilation resistance; on the other hand, the ventilation outlet is increased to increase the natural ventilation capacity. In this way, the pressure inside and outside the tank can be balanced, eliminating the oil spill and leakage caused by the pressure difference between inside and outside.
